How to measure your ring size at home

A gemstone ring should sit perfectly — too loose and the stone loses constant contact with your skin; too tight and it causes discomfort. Here are three ways to find your true size before you order.

1Most accurate

Visit your trusted jeweller

The best way to know your size. Jewellers use dummy steel ring sizers that find your fit quickly.

Avoid plastic sizers — they can be inaccurate. Wear the dummy ring for a couple of days to check for any skin irritation.

2At home

Measure with a ruler

If you already wear a ring on that finger:

Take the ring off and place it on a ruler.
Measure its internal diameter in millimetres.
Match it to the chart below for your country.

3Approximate

Paper strip method

No tools needed:

Wrap a non-stretchable thread or paper strip around your finger.
Tighten until comfortable and mark both ends.
Measure the length in millimetres and match it to the chart.

Note: The paper strip method is easy and accessible anywhere, but use it only for an approximate idea of your size — not as an accurate final measurement.
